With the kind of temperature we’re all experiencing right now, it’s hard to deny that summer really is here. That’s a good thing, after all, the best time to hit the beach is during the hot season. However, frolicking under the sun doesn’t mean having to sacrifice having smooth and healthy skin.
We’ve been taught since elementary that too much sun exposure can be harmful to our skin but sometimes, our excitement to “seas the day” takes on the wheel and we tend to forget this very important skincare. Of course, we understand if visiting Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort would make you want to sunbathe and get that glowing, golden tan but to make sure you end up sun-kissed, and not sun burnt, here are a few skincare tips you can do:
- Make sunblock your best friend.
We’re not just telling you to put on sunblock when you’re about to take a dip on the beach, we’re saying always use sunblock the moment you leave the house. The most recommended SPF when it comes to sunscreens are 15 but if your skin is fair or a tad bit more sensitive than usual, it’s best to go for one that has SPF 30 or higher. Also, don’t forget that sunblock isn’t something you just apply once everyday- it’s recommended by dermatologists and doctors alike that you apply it every four hours for maximum protection against the sun.
- Wear supersized sunglasses
Using protective eye wear is not just to shield your eyes from the rays of the sun but also to cover the skin around your eyes. If possible, make sure to have polarized lenses that have UV filters for added protection. Stay away from mirrors too since these have the capability to bounce UV light onto your cheeks which will make it appear red, not in a nice blushed way but in a burnt one.
- Put that hat on.
Whether it’s a normal cap or a wide-brimmed summer hat, wearing a head gear do wonders in protecting your face from the harmful rays of the sun. We still highly recommend going for a hat that has a brim of at least four inches so it will be wide enough to cover areas where most people forget to apply sunscreen- the scalp and the tops of the ears.
- Bring a beach umbrella.
If you’re planning to stay on the shore and admire the view of the sea that we have going on at Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort in Batangas, then we definitely suggest you bring a beach umbrella. The great thing about this very simple item is that it’s not just portable but it also gives you enough shade to protect you from extreme heat even on hours when the sun is so high and scorching. Not to mention the fact that it’s easy to find and not that expensive to purchase.
- Practice the shadow rule.
It’s important to know that the intensity of the sun’s UV radiation depends mainly on the angle of the sun and its altitude above the horizon. Okay, that sounds too technical but to make it simple, to determine whether or not it’s time to go and enjoy the beach under the sun, just look at your shadow- if it’s shorter than you, then you’re more likely to get sun burnt.
So there you go- five very simple things to remember if you want your stay at the shores of Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort to be memorable in a good way! We just want to make sure you go home with memories of a great getaway and that perfect tan that is far from looking like a burnt toast. What are you waiting for?
