The Right Way to Sunbathe at the Beach

Besides the perfect combination of the sun, sand, and sea, if there is one other thing Batangas beach lovers can’t go through summer without, it’s that sun-kissed skin. We here at Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort in Batangas are all up for our guests getting that summer glow but we’d like to instill some important reminders on how to safely sunbathe at the beaches in Batangas.

This is particularly relevant in the present time since there’s no denying that global warming is imminent and the ozone layer is much more depleted compared to the previous years. So to make sure you get sun-kissed, not sun-burnt, here are a few tips for healthy natural tanning:

  1. Exfoliate before heading out.

Exfoliating means removing dead cells from your skin’s uppermost layer. By doing this, you are allowing your fresh skin to appear which then can even your skin tone and remove any pore-clogging dirt and oil. There are many products out there designed for skin exfoliation but if you’re opting for something that’s home-made, you can always use an exfoliating glove or loofah pad to scrub your skin with oatmeal, sugar, or salt. This is a great way to make your tan last longer since exfoliation can lead to lesser build-up of dead skin cells which will enable you to tan more easily and evenly.

  1. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen.

This may sound counterintuitive to most since your goal is to let the sun give you that nice caramel color but getting tanned while still using sunscreen is actually possible. In fact, it’s highly recommended that you apply sunscreen on your skin first before lounging around under the sun of Batangas beaches. The SPF in sunscreens are actually there not to block the sun but to make sure your skin is protected from its harmful UVB (ultraviolet B “burning”) rays. So if you’re about to frolick on our shores here at our resort in Batangas, do remember to apply sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before you greet the sun. Reapply it 15 to 30 minutes after you’re exposed to the sun as well.

  1. Divide your time under the sun.

The right way to get a healthy tan is to not overexpose your skin. Yes, it is not recommended you sunbathe a full whole day because that could lead to you getting nasty sunburns. The sun is at its hottest and most harmful to the skin from 10 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon so it’s best to do your tanning before or after this time. Also, find shade from time to time so your skin gets rest from the sun rays every now and then.

  1. Protect your head.

Getting an even tan requires you to put a hat and a pair of sunglasses on. Choose eyewear that blocks at least 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays (those labeled with “UV absorption up to 400 nm”) to protect not just your eyes but the skin around it. For the hat, go for brims that are two to three inches wide so your eyes, ears, nose, scalp, forehead, and neck are safe from extreme sun exposure. You don’t have to look at this as an unnecessary accessory, instead, use it as a way to give a fashion statement even while lazy-lying under the sun.

If you’re ready to get that gorgeous sun-kissed glow, then head on over here at best beach and dive resort in Batangas- Eagle Point! Feel free to contact us for inquiries and bookings.
