Simple Ways to Protect Coral Reefs in Batangas

Since April 22 is National Earth Day, we here at Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort in Batangas think it’s only fitting to talk about ways we can preserve our natural wonders. With Anilao being home to some of the best dive spots not just in the country but in the whole world, we’ve listed down a few simple ways we all can help protect its rich underwater life.

Remember, these are not requests but our responsibility as habitats in this planet, after all, if you want to continue witnessing the wonderful water world here in Anilao, Batangas, doing a few things to help preserve it is but a simple but effective step in making sure it stays healthy and colorful.

1. Conserve water.

Every drop of water we use turns into wastewater which in turn can negatively affect our oceans. To decrease water pollution, make sure to use water wisely so less runoff and wastewater will find their way back into the seas.

2. Use energy-efficient light bulbs.

Light bulbs that last longer than normal ones help in reducing the emission of greenhouse gas. It’s important to keep in mind that climate change is considered one of the leading reasons that threaten the survival of coral reefs.

3. Volunteer in cleanup initiatives.

If you and your friends are looking to spend a productive summer or break, why not search for any beach cleanup projects and volunteer? 4. Dive but don’t touch.

The corals are there for you to see but please don’t forget that they are living things as well. 5. Keep the shores clean.

This is a very important reminder especially this summer. A lot of beach goers tend to leave their trash on the sandy shores of the beach and though it’s not directly on the water, a significant number of it do end up on the ocean.

7. Plant trees.

One reason behind greenhouse gasses is the fact that there are not enough trees to encourage production of healthy oxygen. Trees actually decrease wastewater that goes into the ocean besides reversing the rising temperature of the planet.

8. Do some research.

Educating yourself about the wonders and lives of coral reefs will enable you to better understand their anatomy. Doing so can also help you comprehend their value and spread the word on how to protect and preserve it.
