The beaches in Batangas are known for being a place of relaxation and recreation but fun can turn into fiasco when nobody in the group adds another important “s” to sun, sand, and sea- SAFETY. It’s crucial to remember that since a beach is a vast open space, there are a lot of things that could happen which can get overlooked.
To make sure your next trip here at Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort won’t result in any accident, here are a few safety tips to remember:
One of the reasons most vacationers plan ahead of time when going to the beach is to guarantee clear skies. Bad weather can pose many dangerous threats, mainly in the form of giant waves which can dampen your mood to conquer the sea.
We’re not just talking about the beach area but the destination itself. It would be wise to know where the city proper is, the market, and more importantly the local hospital or clinic. It’s better to know it and not need it than need it and not know it.
Even if you can swim, the ocean can be unpredictable. Be sure to heed warning flags or ropes which can help swimmers determine which part of the sea is too deep to explore. We also suggest staying close to an area with people around.
We’re not saying you should stay away from your favorite cocktail (that would be hypocritical since we do have an exceptional bar here at Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort), just that you should know when to stop. This one’s pretty obvious since getting drunk (at or outside the beach) can lead to pretty disastrous events.
A rip current is a strong current that flows outward from the beach which can present danger to swimmers. Gaps between waves or discolored water near the shore are usually rip currents so stay away. In the event you or anyone you know encounters a rip current, don’t swim against it, swim parallel to the beach and once you’re out, you can swim back to the shore.
To add to the list, you must also keep in mind to stay hydrated, pack a first aid kit, learn Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and have aqua shoes ready. Also, always make sure to keep your eyes glued to the little ones because they might wander too far.
We hope you never forget these simple safety tips the next time you visit us here at Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort!
