Skincare Tips for Beach Lovers

There is no denying that this year is probably the hottest months we have ever experienced. Yes, it makes commuting to and from work feel like hell but if you look at the brighter side of things, it means you can hit the beach resorts in Batangas even on a month as early as January!

But no matter the time of the year, going to your favorite tropical destination when the sun is at its highest can be harmful to your skin. So to make sure you can enjoy our beach here at Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort in Batangas without having to worry about going home feeling like toasted bread, here are a few skincare tips you would do well to remember:

  1. Hydrate
You might think that protecting yourself from the sun only involves the external, physical aspect of your skin, but no. It is also important to make sure you stay hydrated so your body will be able to defend itself better from the harmful UV rays. When lounging by the shore, keep a water jug or tumbler handy with water so you can rehydrate every now and then as you enjoy the sun, sand, and sea. The idea here is to replenish the fluids you will be sweating out while you are on the beach.
  2. Apply sunscreen
This will never be NOT on the list of ways to protect your skin from the sun. Choose one that has SPF 30 or higher and apply generously and regularly. If you could, apply it either hourly or every two hours. It is also crucial that you choose a product that is waterproof so you do not have to worry about your sweat or the ocean nullifying the purpose of your sunscreen. If you are willing to invest on a really good product, you could also look for one that has zinc or titanium to minimize the greasy, sticky feeling that usually comes with applying sunscreen.
  3. Know your skin.
There are some parts of our body that tend to produce more oil than some parts- this could be the nose, forehead, and chin. Oil can breakdown sunscreen much faster so you might end up with uneven skin tone if you do not re-apply the product.
  4. Wear sunglasses
Choose one that is supersized so you can shield not just your eyes from the sun but also the skin around your eyes. Go for polarized lenses as well because you will get added protection with the presence of UV filters on your eye wear. We also advise you to avoid mirrors as much as possible since UV light can bounce onto your cheeks and make it appear sun burnt skin.
  5. Put on a hat
Did you know that the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots can be made worse by sun exposure? If you do not want that then you better put on a wide-brim hat or cap to protect your face from the sun. Just a reminder though, it is still best to put on a face sunscreen and then putting on a hat for added protection.
With these 5 amazing skin care tips for the beach, we are sure you can’t wait to hit the beach! Give us a call here at Eagle Point Beach and Diving Resort because we would love to help you achieve that sun-kissed glow!
