Summer is right around the corner so we will not be surprised if you are already planning your next beach in Batangas getaway. We know you can probably imagine yourself sinking your toes in the sand, taking in the salty air, and diving into amazing blue waters.
But before you go and strut in your swimsuit and get your sun tan on, here are a few tips to consider for a safe and successful sunbathing session at the Batangas beach:
- Research your destination
With the internet giving us information right at our fingertips, it is best to do your research first before going on a trip. Know everything you can about the destination, especially the weather. This way, you can know exactly when to frolick under the sun. Any time between 10 am to 4pm is when the sun’s rays are strongest so avoid those for good measure.
- Know your sunscreen
Choosing the right sunscreen is all about SPF or sun protection factor, which determines how much sun you can be exposed to without getting sunburnt. Choose one that has an SPF higher than 30 but make sure to apply it generously and repeatedly throughout the day. And though sunscreens in spray form provide convenience and ease of use, we still suggest going for those lotion-type ones because they give more protection.
- Put on a hat
You may not be aware of it but exposure to the sun can lead to wrinkles and dark spots on your face. Don’t worry, you can still sunbathe without sacrificing the health and appearance of your face-just put on a wide-brimmed hat so it stays protected from the sun. Wearing a hat is a great and inexpensive way to shield the skin on your face, neck, and skin even while sunbathing.
- Wear sunglasses
Did you know that the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation can also cause eye damage such as macular degeneration and cataracts, to name two. Protect your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun by wearing good-quality sunglasses when you hit the beach. Choose lenses that are wide enough with a close-fitting wraparound design so no harmful rays of the sun will get through and cause damage to your eyes.
- Seek shade
This may sound counterproductive since you are trying to get a suntan but it is also important to seek shade even when you are sunbathing. Bring a beach umbrella where you can lie under- it’s like giving your skin rest from the sun from time to time, so you will have a higher chance of getting sun-kissed, not sunburnt.
- Remember to hydrate
Lastly, do not forget to keep yourself hydrated. Make sure to have a handy water bottle right beside you so you can drink up while you sunbathe. Too much exposure under the sun is nnot just harmful on the outside but on the inside as well.
